WHO IS

I am a medical man sicilian with one great passion: the breeding of the birds.
I have always raised birds pertaining to the great family ofthe Finches: European Goldfinches, European Greenfinches, Redpol, European Bullfinches, Chaffinches,   Spinus etc.
Today in my breeding beyond to some brace of Siskins  blackchest ( Spinus notatus ), splendid spinus SouthAmerican, it is present exclusively what the king of the Finches can be considered: the Goldfinch  in its mutations of color.
Creed that the love towards the winged world can not be incontrast with the breeding of the birds in captivity.
That concurs in fact important scientific acquisitions ontheir behaviors, their filogenetiche affinities (for es. through ibridologico test) and on the alterations of the phenotype due toereditabili genotipiche variations (mutations).
But, undressing the cloth of the student, it is above all the phenomenon of the life that to every season renews (courtship,nidificazione, broods, imbecco of the nidiacei) that ago gift to thebreeder of a experience of high educational value and enriches it of amentality truly naturalistica.Ciņ is true only if we engage ourselvesto stop exclusively subject of breeding, marked from inamovibile ring,than ne it demonstrates the birth in captivity.Well-known in fact that a breeding subject is more docile, more resistant to the diseasesand more incline to the reproduction.

MY BREEDING

My premises of breeding is placed in my room in one room ofapproximately squared 25 m for 2.5 m of exposed height
to south. The access in the breeding premises happensthrough a wide terrace, that I use for for all those maneuvers
that they could pollute the room of breeding (cleaning and disinfection of cages and equipments, antiparasitic spray of etc.)and where they lodge the species various from the Goldfinche (somebrace of Siskins Black Chest Spinus notatus ) andlittle subjects to already dedicate to the fascinating art of the hybridization (from some year a Chaffinch coupled to a Goldfinch male, places fecund eggs that they do not reach the birth).This terrace are fortified also of some aviary (2-2-1m) where I place novels in the delicate period of the moult.
The breeding room is fortified of a large glasse window (equal to1/3 of the wall exposed to south) with double E glasses protect from mosquito-net. The exposure to south concurs the entrance of benefits solar beams, that beams   UV carry out antiseptic action () and exercise an important positive role on the psycho-physical member ofthe birds.
The characteristic of the double glasses is a lot important,why it concurs to isolate the microclimate of the breeding, avoiding
jolts of temperature and humidity, above all in the winterseason. However, I use it of a radiator electrical worker to oil, of a dehumidifier and of a depurator of air, it concurs me to constantly hold under control the environmental during the winterseason, firm parameters remaining the frequent air reciprocations,necessary in order to not only reduce the environmental pollution, butabove all in order to eliminate carbon dioxide and to oxygenate thepremises.
In summer, the fixture nearly remains always opened wide, and the protection from bugs and predators is guaranteed from the mosquito net.
To the inside of the breeding room they lodge exclusively the Goldfinches reproducing, is changed (pastel, tawny, agate,passepartouts, yellows and satinč) that ancestral, this last in the varieties maior and tschusii (or Goldfinch Sardinian-course).
The Carduelis carduelis maior comes used inorder to increase the ransom of the changed subjects, always rememberi that the reduced one loads feomelanica with suchsubspecies exalts some mutations (like the agate) while ne penalizes others (like the tawny one).
However it is, the imposing ransom and the violent contrasts of color of the cape, confer to maior an aspect
sure spectacular and sceptre of Goldfinch the more withinbetween the breeders.

The Carduelis carduelis tschusii is onetypical subspecies of the Sardinia and the Sicily, characterized from tiny dimensions
(the Authors indicate 11.5-12 cm, but i have various exemplary abundantly under the 11 cm.), shining colors and one
remarkable feomelanica charge (flanks, chest, codione and gote appear strongly polluted of tawny).
The shining template and the yellow crossing gold that is detached clearly from an pleasantly dark plumage therefore,
the tiny dimensions, the melodious song and sure much less clumsy of the Siberian cousins, transform this
poor " relative " of the Goldfinch in a small jewel of perfection designed from happiest of the artists.
If to all this we add a matchless cure and attitude for the prole in captivity, you understand my parochial one
attachment towards " the Goldfinch Sicialian "and its constant presence in my breeding.

I do not hold neither  I raise canaries, is for atthis point the famous hygienic and immunological problems to cargo of other species more weak people (you see Goldfinches), is why in ageneralized manner creed in the necessity of the specialization in breeding: the dimensions of the cages, the feeding, the accessories, the temperature, the eventual artificialvariations of the light, become therefore aimed towards the preferred species from the breeder, with certain advantages in the selection and standard of the subjects and in the competence of the breeder.
When in my breeding a changed female does not brood or itdoes not raise, the eggs or the chick come " moved "under a conspecifica female, making part of the local subspecies tschusii (of which I have already to decant  the particular attitude to the cures ancestral celebrations), avoiding there fore the famous problems legacies to I use of the canarine like nannies (imprinting and immunological idiosyncrasies).
All the subjects of my breeding come reproduced in cages:from 90 or 120cm for changed and the maior, from 55cm for the subjectsof small ransom. Personally, also appreciating the advantages of thebreeding in voliera (nidificazione insured person, almost made saves the health of the subjects), prefers that at least the phase of thetrue breeding and just happens in
cage, for all a series of reasons, between which the more important is sure the possibility of to manage with more tranquillity all the riproductive phase(substitution and check of eggs, control of the small in the first additional eventual days of life and beakful, to mark, smaller risk if the small it falls from the nest etc.) to which I add without delay a my greater enjoyment in the drawn near observation of the several phases of breeding (nidification, broods, beakful etc).
